An Islamic Gay Marriage?!?

Salaam alaikum wa rahmat Allah wa barakatuh everyone, insh'Allah you're all in the best of health and the highest of iman. So, I came across this article yesterday, and the entire thing just seemed to be one HUGE oxymoron, and so many levels of wrong. Read it HERE and tell me what you think.

Subhan'Allah, I don't have anything against people who identify themselves as homosexual as people, but Allah(swt) has clearly stated in the Qur'an that marriage is between a male and a female, not a man and a man or a woman and a woman, and that the act of sodomy is sinful. How then can this imam marry these two men "according to sharia law," let alone condone their relationship as being halal?!? May Allah(swt) guide us all, ameen!

  1. Salam.

Who r we to put these men on the stage of judgement? Astafgallah! I do not see anything wrong with them doing something that they choose to do. Would I do it? No, but we all have free will given to us by Allah. It is to HIM we all answer to in the end.

As for sodemy .... With all do respect, we don't know nor can we assume and judge what is happening. I love my husband but not all the time do we have sex to show our feelings and love for each other.

I am sorry Sister but I find this post very judgeing. Something we as Muslims should not be.

May Allah guide us all to the straight path. Ameen.

Forgive me if I have offended. It was not my intention.

    1. Wa alaikum salaam Daisy,

Perhaps I should have been more clear in my post. My issue with this is not that these men got married. That is their choice, and, as you said, it's between them and Allah(swt). My issue with this is the article stating that an Imam married them according to SHARIAH LAW, which is impossible, as Islam does not allow homosexual marriages.

Perhaps these men are not engaging in a sexual relationship, nor, quite frankly, do I even care, because that is their business, and between them and Allah(swt). However, in Islam, sexuality, while certainly not the only aspect of marriage, IS an aspect of marriage in Islam. It is a way for a man and a woman to fulfill their desires in a halal way, in addition to being an emotional and spiritual partnership. Therefore, in Islam, marriage is not something that two men, or two women, can engage in a halal manner.

I'm sorry you felt that I was judging these men as individuals, as that was not my intention. I merely meant to say that their marriage is not in line with shariah law, and that I wish the article hadn't made it sound like homosexual marriage is something that is halal in Islam. I hope this clarifies what I was trying to say in my post, and believe me it takes a lot more than that to offend me, no hard feelings :)

  2. Hahahaha ... well, first off, to comfort you, your post is fine, your point was very clear from the very beginning, i do not believe you're judging as your intention was very very obvious as i just mention. anyway, you know what ?! when i clicked on the article link and read the title " Alarbyia News channel " i did not bother to read a single word in the article :-). sorry to say, but you just fell into an ambush that has been set for you just in hope to make you doubt in your belief . Sadly to say, Al Arabyia is a VERY liberal Saudi news channel which her main goal is to liberalize the Saudi society and the Arabs and Islamic societies successively and gradually. as you pointed in your statement there is no sucha Sodom-ism in Islam, Islam is very clear in that, anyway, this secular channel sadly to say is financed by a Saudi money to change peoples mind about Islam and drive them into secularization . if you watch this channel you would see and hear so many "twisted" news like this one every once in while, one thing left to mention here, the united states Gov. support this channel let's say at least morally as wiki leaks showed lately .

    1. Subhan'Allah, I didn't really know that about Alarbyia...what a joke! It all makes sense now why they would post articles written in this manner on their website...I don't really watch the news, but if I do, I normally stick to Aljazeera, which is based in Qatar, am I correct? If I want to hear about more local stuff, like what King Mohammed VI did today, or whether or not the tramway is ever going to be finished (LOOOL), I watch 2M or Al Oula, the Moroccan channels (can you get them through nilesat in KSA? I've always wondered...). They broadcast in Darija, French, Spanish and Tamazight...I don't really understand why they don't do one in English as well...if they're going to broadcast in Spanish, might as well do one in English LOL.

  3. yes, Al jazeera is based and financed in Qatar by the Qatari Gov. both of al jazeera and Al arabiya following each own agenda, as with secularism in Alarabyia, we find al Jazeera is more nationalist and somehow a bit Islamic, i would not call it Islamic but at least you wont get out of Islam while watching it without knowing it as you would with Al arabiyah :D . and yes, as far as i could remember, all Arabic satellites are covering the entire Arabic region middle east and north Africa and sometimes even Iran and part of the Indian peninsula. i watched m2 sometimes ago, but i never could understand what they were saying LOL . i remember once i enjoyed watching the king and his son attending ( i think it was the prophet's birth day ..not sure) anyway he and his little crown prince joined a group of people in a mosque and started to read Qur'an just next to a grave ( not a very pleasant sight for a man from middle of Arabia, trust me XD ) but i enjoyed it anyway . the reason i think why they do not broadcast in English is because English is 3rd or 4th language in priority in Morocco after french and Arabic and even Spanish if we consider 2 Moroccan cities are occupied by Spain let alone the west Sahara which was a Spanish mandate.
